The 17th edition of the annual ‘Qatargas Open’ Golf tournament was held at the Doha Golf Club on 23rd and 24th October.
The popular tournament attracted over 350 golfers, including players of the Qatar Golf Association, employees of Qatargas, its stakeholders, companies based in Ras Laffan Industrial City, banks and embassies. In parallel to the main competition, there was also a competition of juniors on the Academy Course in which nearly 30 young golfers participated.
The tournament concluded with an awards ceremony and dinner at the Doha Golf Club. Mr. Azam Abdul Aziz Al-Mannai, Qatargas Public Relations Manager, presented the prizes to the winners.
Following two days of exciting competition, Abdulla Sulaiman claimed the overall winner’s trophy with 42 points while Joong Suk Kim secured the top prize in the ladies category with 40 points countback. Zulkarnain Abdul Aziz was declared the top player among the Qatargas employees. The team made up of Albert Segtestam, Conrad Segtestam, Simon Hermenius and Nada Mir took home the winner’s trophy in the Academy juniors scramble.
Addressing the players and guests present at the ceremony, Mr. Azam Al-Mannai, said:
“On behalf of Qatargas, I would like to congratulate all the winners and thank everyone for their wonderful participation. This annual tournament is growing in popularity year after year as evident from the large number of people who have expressed their interest to participate in it. The Qatargas Open is the oldest and one of the most popular events in the corporate golfing calendar in Qatar, eagerly awaited by the golfing community. I would like to thank the Doha Golf Club and the Qatar Golf Association for their support over the years in making this tournament a grand success.”

Also for the fifth year running, Qatargas organized a charity sale on the sidelines of the tournament. Proceeds from the two days’ charity sale will be doubled with an additional contribution from Qatargas and presented to one of the local charity organizations in Qatar.
